My pictures don’t begin to show the beauty, grandeur, opulence, and huge expanse of this magnificent opera house. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 hour guided tour and this has been one of the best things I did in Paris – which says a lot since everything has been wonderful. Our charming tour guide did an excellent job of sharing the fascinating history of the Opera Hous,e as she led through the entire palais. This should be high on the list of things to do for anyone visiting Paris. Unfortunately, there were no operas while we were in Paris, but we did get to sit inside and watch as lighting was worked out for an upcoming opera (no pictures allowed) and see elaborate costumes on display. For my trip next year, I’m going to try to coordinate it with the opera season. I am looking forward to seeing Phantom of the Opera in March at DPAC in Durham!
